FAQ
Why AIMS?
We believe that one of the reasons why so few young men and women are interested in military service today is that many of them have never met anyone who served and have no reference for what military service is about and why it’s important. And the same may hold true for those who influence them—their parents, coaches, teachers, and neighbors—who are a generation removed from the days when everyone knew someone who served.
AFA members and chapters can help because we are active in our communities. In many cases, we are veterans or know veterans, and are supporters of our Air & Space Forces. We can help fill that knowledge gap by reaching out in our communities, telling our stories, and being Advocates who Inspire Military Service.
What can I do to help?
Tell your story. Use our AIMS Tool Box to find materials to become a better advocate. You don’t need to be an expert on every issue, but the more familiar you are with the questions that might come up, the more credible you’ll be. If you have a great Chapter outreach program, good ideas, suggestions, or just a speech you like, contact us.
How do I let AFRS know my Chapter is interested in helping?
Please submit your information to our AFA AIMS database using this form. We’ll add your location and contact information to our Chapter/Squadron locator map, allowing AFRS recruiters to easily get in touch.
How do we know if we’re being effective?
This is a long-term problem, and results will be hard to measure. However, every Airman or Guardian is important and often it’s just one contact or conversation that makes a difference in a young person’s life. Inspiration is central to our Services and AFA’s mission to Advocate, Educate, and Support.
